This IMCA recognised course is the climax of air diver training and can only be undertaken after completion of an HSE recognised surface supplied diving course. The HSE Top-Up certificate is required by divers who want to work on offshore oil and gas and renewable energy diving projects. Hot water suits are worn throughout and all diving is conducted from the PDA’s spacious wet bell, which provides a safe practical means to transit divers to and from the underwater worksite. The course also provides comprehensive knowledge and understanding of the diving procedures that are used to work safely from a dynamically positioned vessel (DPV).
The course is primarily based around emergency procedures, such as diver recovery drills, loss or contamination of air supplies, loss of communications to the bell and complete system failure. Students operate the air and hot water delivery panels located inside the dive control station and are taught to run the launch and recovery system (LARS) winches.
