PDA Commercial Diving Taster Session
The Professional Diving Academy has always had a policy of encouraging anyone considering a commercial diving career to visit us for a “Commercial Diving Taster Session.” We give prospective students a tour of our excellent facilities and provide them with an opportunity to undertake an aptitude dive in our bespoke 4m deep indoor training tank, using full commercial surface supplied diving equipment. As well as the aptitude dive, it gives visitors a chance to gain a worthwhile overview of the diving industry in its current format, through a Q&A session with one of our experienced instructors, and occasionally an experienced Diving Supervisor from our ADC accredited sister company Shearwater Marine Services, one of the UK’s largest marine civil engineering diving contractors. The PDA aims to prepare our graduates for successful entry into the diving industry by delivering a training syllabus that is packed full of essential subsurface working skills such as underwater welding, hydraulic and pneumatic powered tools use, rigging and lifting, flanging and hydraulic bolt tensioning, etc.
Although commercial diving can be extremely rewarding career with high earning potential, it can also be extremely tough to break into at the outset. Through the sheer level of competition, many new divers will drop out if not fully committed to fighting for that initial foothold. We feel that its vitally important that anyone considering a training course with us has sufficient information about the diving industry, such as; current industry status, types of work, salary expectations, future training requirements, etc.
